It’s the Semi-Final Countdown!

Championship Season is one of our favorite times of the year! We get to write some extra special trivia question sets, we get to spend a few extra weekends playing trivia, and – most importantly – we get to thank each of you for playing trivia with us all season long. Without you all, we’re just weirdos standing in a bar asking questions to no one. With you all, we may still be weirdos, just in better company! Win or lose in the next two weeks, we want you to know that we enjoy quizzing with you week in and week out and we appreciate your support of Sporcle Live and the venues who host us!

Today marks the beginning of the RSVP process for our Semi-Final Games and Championships! Remember, RSVPs open at 10 AM local time each day.¬†It is VERY¬†important that you follow the RSVP protocols. Below is a graphic of when to RSVP.¬†If you’re not sure which day applies to you, check out our league RSVP page, which features a tool to search for your specific team and determine when you should fill out the linked form.

We ask that you please do not RSVP¬†before¬†your designated day, and¬†highly encourage you to RSVP within 24 hours to secure a spot. Space is limited and we’ll be operating on a first-come, first-serve system.¬†

In addition to contacting all of our qualified teams by email, we will also post a link at If you have questions, visit our FAQ page or email us at

All Hail the King of Calories!

Our PCTL Semi-Final Games are this Saturday, 6/8 and we cannot think of a better pre-game treat than a free doughnut! National Doughnut Day is observed on the first Friday in June, which this year falls on 6/7. Many doughnut shops nationwide, especially the big chain companies, are giving away free confections to celebrate this wonderful holiday!

‚ÄúJune 7 is National Doughnut Day and National VCR Day,‚ÄĚ says the Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme. ‚ÄúSo, take your pick: a free doughnut or a grainy VHS tape.‚ÄĚ

National Doughnut Day celebrates more than just these glorious, glazed sugar-rings. It began as a holiday to recognize the 250 women volunteers that were dispatched to France in WWI to help prepare various breakfast foods for the troops. They¬†found that helmets could fry¬†up to seven doughnuts at a time, and therefore became known as the “Doughnut Lassies.” The Salvation Army created the holiday in 1938 as a way to acknowledge the volunteers and bring awareness to the need for charitable contributions.

In WWII, The American Red Cross dispatched their own branded group of women volunteers, known this time as the “Doughnut Dollies.” These brave women may not have been on the frontlines, but they were willing to travel to dangerous lands with no expectation of compensation or commendation.¬†
